Horsemanship 1 “From the Ground Up”
In this clinic each horse and rider will begin with learning the "Ground Steps to Success". We will practice the “go forward cue”, backing, moving our horse left and right and disengaging the hips. We will also work on the head down cue, trotting and haunch turns. In the first part we will discuss the proper handling of the lead line, lunge line and the importance of using good equipment. In the afternoon we will repeat everything from the morning session while on horseback. We will show you how to incorporate the 6 C’s of horsemanship into your riding and training program. We will discuss the emotional, mental and physical needs of the horse and help you tune into what your horse is trying to tell you.

Horsemanship 2 “Responsive Riding”
How would you like to learn to ride and communicate with your horse using a light touch? In this clinic I work with each rider to help you gain a better feel of the horse beneath you. We will work together on helping you position your horse for proper transitions.  The basics of dressage and proper biomechanics will be taught in this clinic to help you improve your body language communication with your horse. We will begin the clinic with a review of groundwork. You will learn the three seat positions that will help you to communicate with your horse and stay balanced. The clinic includes exercises for getting better directional control and the proper use of your legs when riding.

4-H Horsemanship

In 4-H, young men and women work with a horse to build a team. My philosophy is to teach young horsemen and horsewomen how to work together with each horse and develop a solid relationship based on trust and the 6 C's of Horsemanship. In this clinic each horse and rider will begin with learning the "Ground Steps to Success". We will discuss the emotional, mental and physical needs of the horse and help you tune into what your horse is trying to tell you. The rider will learn the three seat positions that will help him/her to communicate with the horse and stay balanced. The morning session for each clinic is for the beginning 4-H riders and the afternoon session is for the advanced riders.
