From an early age Dr. Mike gained valuable experience working with his family to train young horses while working with Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred breeders and trainers in California. During Michael’s college days, when he pursued his Ph.D. in Veterinary Molecular Biology, he worked for a variety of veterinary practices to learn more about the whole horse. Dr. Mike co-invented the Equine Hydro-T, a rotary hydrotherapy nozzle for the external treatment of equine injuries. Along the way Dr. Mike has learned from some of the top Equine Clinicians in the United States and in 2007 Dr. Mike began to study Dressage to further his knowledge.
"I believe that a horse has a built-in desire to perform for his/her owner" and these experiences have taught me that in many instances the desire to work together with the human partner is confused by unclear signals. Horsemen and women agree that there are no problem horses --- only uneducated horses and riders.
My Horsemanship philosophy is that I work with each horse and rider to develop a solid relationship based on trust and the 6 C's of Horsemanship. All of my training and clinics begin with ground-work focused on developing this trust. Some horse and riders will learn faster than others but that is not what matters---the most important aspects are to be safe, calm and enjoy the time we get to spend with our equine partner and please remember---- "It is ALL about the Horse and each one is unique".
